I recently visited Shogun-zuka Seiryuden in Kyoto Prefecture for a photo shoot!
What the shoot was about is still a secret!

This time, we had the special opportunity to shoot inside the Seiryu'uden, which was a very beautiful and relaxing space. As I began to think that the building looked familiar, the steward who was showing us around explained to us that the building was modeled after the old Butokuden.
Indeed, the high ceilings, the position of the pillars, and the surrounding tatami mats were all very similar!
I couldn't help but step into the room barefoot, and found that it had good elasticity and grip! It's also very easy to slide on and off!
It was originally built in front of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine as the "Kyoto Branch Butokuden of the Dainippon Butokukai" and was used as a police dojo after the war!
After that, it was decided to dismantle it due to the large amount of maintenance and management costs, but Seirenin decided to move and rebuild it as "Seiryu-den" at Shogun-zuka on the top of Mt. Higashiyama in Kyoto, where it remains to this day.

As a someone involved in the martial arts, it is sad to hear that these buildings are being demolished.
