Hey everyone! Did you all watch the All Japan Kendo Championship Tournament yesterday?
It gave me goosebumps!
While many who have won or were expected to win the tournament were defeated, the two who made it to the finals were Hayashida Ryuhei from Fukui Prefecture and Hoshiko Keita from Kagoshima Prefecture, both from Tsukuba University!
In addition, both of them represented Japan at the 17th World Kendo Championships in Korea!
Since they are both from the same university and represented Japan at the same time, they must know each other's moves very well, and I was expecting a long battle, but...
At 1 minute and 42 seconds into the match, both players made a bold move and the flags were raised for Hoshiko.
In the end, Hoshiko struck men when Hayashida paused, winning the tournament for the first time!
The tense matches between 6th and 7th dans are very interesting to watch, but the fierce matches between young players are also fantastic!
Now I'm looking forward to next year's championship tournament!
