    First time in 3 years! 4 consecutive issues JKF Basic/Kata Special Instruction Seminar Vol.3 Goju-ryu

    The following is a partial list of the Goju-ryu training sessions that took place at the JKF Basic/Kata Special Instruction Seminar held by the JKF on Sunday, March 27.
    Gekisai1 and Gekisai2 are based on kata created by Goju-ryu founder Chojun Miyagi in 1941 for beginners in order to promote and develop karate-do.
    In Gekisai1 and Gekisai2, students will learn basic standing, uke, and attack techniques, as
    well as nekoashi (turning with nekoashi), while practicing Goju-ryu's signature close combat, circle movements, muchimi, and breathing techniques with sanchin, in order to achieve the unity of mind,technique, and body that will lead to accurate performance of kata.
    In this magazine, you will find tips on how to use your body and strengthen your techniques, as well as points on Gekisai2, Seipai in daiichi-shiteigata, and Kururunfa in daini-shiteigata.
