Learn the basics of Zagi Shomen-uchi Irimi-nage with Hiroaki Kobayashi Shihan. He explains the key points of body movements and footwork. Master the correct technique through this instructional video.
1.Body Movements, Footwork
In this session, we explain the Zagi Shomen-uchi Irimi-nage technique. When the opponent strikes from the front, it is crucial to evade properly. Then, move as if slipping through. Irimi-nage might suggest a turning motion, but first, slip through and then align your knees before turning.
Evade, slip through, and then turn to perform Irimi-nage. Let's try again. Evade, slip through, turn, and finally, you don't need to step forward; just use your intention to throw. Unlike standing practice, there's no need to step forward—just push out in the same manner.
Next, we explain important points about slipping through. When the opponent strikes from the front, set your feet accordingly. Then, move forward, but make sure to draw your back foot up. This is where you align your knees for the first time. When the opponent strikes, take the second step straight, and draw up your back foot. Align your knees here, and then push out.
2.Summary
Zagi Shomen-uchi Irimi-nage is not about pulling down with force but about using proper footwork and upper body flexibility to execute the throw smoothly. Focus on correct body and foot movements, and practice diligently.
