Training Methods to
Support Top Athletes

This is a training series that began in the March issue. In this
feature, we introduce Kakeru Nishiyama and Hikaru Ohno
(both KARATE1 Premier League 2022 annual champions,
Oita City Fire Department), who became the first couple in
history to win the All Japan Karatedo Championships last
December in the men's and women's kata events. Sensei
Shunichi Oba (REAxGROW representative, Tagawa City,
Fukuoka Prefecture, physiotherapist, member of the Oita
Karatedo Federation Medical Science Committee), trainer
of several top karate athletes, including Yuzuki Sawae
(THEATRE ACADEMY CO.,LTD), winner of the women's
kumite event of the same tournament. Each of the three
issues of the magazine alternates between kata and kumite
training. The magazine will also include some useful training
methods for home training, so stay tuned.
