The amazing 21-year-old fighter brings a historic victory to the Bulgarian Karate!
In the women's Kumite 55kg class, there were many upsets and many reversals.
The winner of this weight class was 21-year-old Ivet Goranova, a rising star in Bulgaria.
She was not selected from the Olympic standing, but won the Olympic qualifying competition in Paris and qualified for the Olympics.
She has not been a very notable athlete in the past.
However, in the elimination round, she defeated Tzuyun Wen of Chinese Taipei 5-2 in her first match, then defeated Serap Arapoglu of Turkey,
who is ranked first in the Olympic standings, 5-1, and defeated Sarah Bahmanyar of Iran 5-2, she passed the elimination round without any losses.
She beat Bettina Plank (Austria) in the semifinals and Anzhelika Terliuga (Ukraine) in the final to bring Bulgaria its first gold medal of this Olympic Games.
