    Advance Notice NEW PROJECT
    The Essence of Okinawa Karate
    And its Successors

    Produced by Yoshitomo Yamashiro
    (Okinawa-kenpo Karate-do Okiken-kai Shihan)

A new project, " The Essence of Okinawa Karate and its Successors" has started.
This project introduces the art of OKINAWA BUDO-KARATE,
produced by Shihan Yoshitomo Yamashiro of Okinawa-kenpo Karate-do, the author of this magazine " TOMARITE Passing on the secrets of practical combat ".
Shihan Yoshitomo Yamashiro, who was born in Okinawa and grew up with Okinawa Budo Karate, has produced this project.
As a person who has inherited Okinawan karate and is responsible for passing it on to the next generation, I can see things from a different perspective.
Under the production of Shihan Yoshitomo Yamashiro,
the JKFan editorial department and Champ video department have joined forces to introduce the "essence of Okinawan karate" through the words and performances of its inheritors.
We will explore the art of karate from a different angle than that of competition karate.
However, this is a big project that the JKFan editorial department cannot carry out alone, so please understand that this will be an irregular series.
We have already interviewed Kiyohide Shinjyo Hanshi 9-dan of Uechi-ryu Karate-doKenyou-kai Honbu Dojo and Masaaki Ikemiyagi Hanshi 9-dan of Gojyu-ryu Okinawa Meibu-kan Honbu.
And we are now working hard on the production.
Traditional karate, competition karate, full-contact karate, protective gear karate, self-defense karate…There are many different names for karate, and many different styles, but all of them are "karate".
The reason we can say that is because there are inheritors who are firmly rooted in Okinawa.
With the development of video technology, editing technology, and distribution infrastructure, we hope to enrich this new project so that we can convey the art of karate to many people as possible.
This time, I would like to introduce some shots from the interview with Shihan Yoshitomo Yamashiro as a producer,
Sensei Kiyohide Shinjyo of Uechi-ryu, and Sensei Masa-aki Ikemiyagi of Gojyu-ryu,
prior to the production. I would like to introduce some of the shots from the interviews.
