The women's kumite 61kg class was not as chaotic as the other classes, since the WKF weight class became the Olympic weight class. 
As the matches were against opponents who knew what they were doing, the results were almost exactly as they should have been. 
For a fact, all the competitors who advanced to the final round were selected from the Olympic standing. 
Among them, Jovana Prekovic (Serbia), who used her sidestepping skillfully and cautiously, maintained her good tactic throughout the tournament. 
She won all of her matches in the elimination round, semifinals, and finals to take the gold medal.
