The Legend of Buko Dosokai Part 3

Dai Nippon Butokukai Budo Senmon Gakko, also known as Busen, was a former professional training school for martial arts instructors located in Kyoto, Japan. It was established and operated by the Dai Nippon Butokukai to nurture and train the spirit of bushido, and there was also a training course in which students could take specific classes. The graduates of the Budokukai's training courses gathered regularly and began to hold training sessions, which later became the Buko Dosokai that would later produce a succession of Hanshi 8 dan.

Eiichi Kamimoto, a 9th dan iaido instructor and 8th dan kendo instructor, and also known as the father of iaido in the All Japan Kendo Federation, initiated the Buko Dosokai. This program consists of rare footage of the legendary Buko Dosokai and interviews with those involved. It is a valuable visual document that shows how the association has had a significant impact on iaido today.

The third part will cover the World Iaido Exchange Demonstration organized by the Buko Dosokai in 1997, including the background of the event and how the demonstration had a significant impact on the spread of Iaido around the world.

Appearance: Tadahiko Morita (Kyoto Rokushikan), Shizufumi Ishido (Shinbukan Ishido Dojo), Masakazu Oshita (Kobe Genbukan)

This was just wonderful to watch and recall this visit. This was my first visit to Japan and a great experience to spend time with Morita Sensei at the Rukoshikan Dojo, to take part in an Enbu at the Heian Shrine and perform on the floor of the Butokuden. This was also the visit I managed to pass Godan, a wonderful time! It was good to see so many familiar faces in the Photos (including myself) some lost to us now but still in our hearts and memories!
