The Legend of Buko Dosokai Part 1
The Legend of Buko Dosokai Part 1
Dai Nippon Butokukai Budo Senmon Gakko, also known as Busen, was a former professional training school for martial arts instructors located in Kyoto, Japan. It was established and operated by the Dai Nippon Butokukai to nurture and train the spirit of bushido, and there was also a training course in which students could take specific classes. The graduates of the Budokukai's training courses gathered regularly and began to hold training sessions, which later became the Buko Dosokai that would later produce a succession of Hanshi 8 dan.
Eiichi Kamimoto, a 9th dan iaido instructor and 8th dan kendo instructor, and also known as the father of iaido in the All Japan Kendo Federation, initiated the Buko Dosokai. This program consists of rare footage of the legendary Buko Dosokai and interviews with those involved. It is a valuable visual document that shows how the association has had a significant impact on iaido today.
The first part of the program looks at how the association was founded and what kind of training was conducted. It is a must-see for students of iaido.
