A Complete Guide of AJKF Iai Part 1(dubbed in English)

This video is based on the All Japan Kendo Federation's Iai Manual, and explains in an easy-to-understand manner the etiquette and principles of the All Japan Kendo Federation's Iai system, as well as the rationale and key points of all twelve techniques. It also covers points that can be easily confused, points to keep in mind during a match, and points for judges to consider. In Part 1, the etiquette and the first "Mae" and second "Ushiro" are fully explained.

Instructor/commentator: Toshihiko Kawaguchi (Iaido Hanshi 8th dan, Iaido committee member of the All Japan Kendo Federation)

Supervisor: Maki Ueno (Iaido Hanshi 8-dan, Chairman of the Iaido Committee of the All Japan Kendo Federation)

    • Greetings: I am using this video, based on the Iai Manual, as a starting point for training. I am a newcomer to Iaido and only did some practice with a bokken at an Aikido Akikai long ago. I wrote asking about where to get a proper practice sword. I sent that as an email. But I see one I can buy on Lazada here in Thailand. It has a scabbard also and is wood. If you have any other instructions, please let me know. I signed up yesterday on a monthly plan. I look forward to practice. The videos look great with English subtitles or dubbing. Thank you, Anthony Billings.
