The All Japan Karatedo Tournament is attended by representatives from each prefecture, district, high school, university, and business organization, as well as top Japanese athletes from around the world.
There will be individual kumite competitions without classifications, individual kata competitions, and team kumite competitions between prefectures. The first tournament was held in 1969, and since then, more than half a century of history and tradition has been spun out, with this year's tournament in 2022 marking the 50th anniversary of the event. This year's tournament will be held at the Nippon Budokan, the sacred site of Budo (the art of martial arts). The winner of the tournament is awarded the Emperor's Cup, the Empress's Cup, and the Prime Minister's Cup, making this a truly historic and prestigious tournament to determine "Japan's number one".
The 50th Japan Karate No. 1 was born, with great match after great match played on each court by Japan's top athletes.
