Suwari-waza practice, part 9, Hanmi-handachi katate-dori kaiten-nage
Unlike other martial arts, Aikido not only has techniques from a standing position, but also seated techniques that are designed for indoor use.
Aikido includes elements of ancient martial arts and can be said to have been developed as a tactical response to indoor use.
Seated techniques are performed using a body movement that uses the knees, known as 'shikko'.
In this lesson, we will aim to improve the seated techniques unique to Aikido by practicing 'shikko', seated techniques, and hanmi handachi techniques.
