English Dubbed Version: Modern Day Gassan Tradition Part One

Gassan-den is a group of Dewa swordsmiths who flourished in the Kamakura period (1185-1333) and are known for their beautiful layers called Ayasugi-hada and very detailed workcarvings. This video documents Gassan Sadatoshi's 800-year tradition of forging techniques in high definition with interviews with the swordsmith himself.

In Part 1, Sadatoshi Gassan himself gives a brief history of Gassan-den and his thoughts on sword making up to the present. This is the English dubbed version, so it is easy to understand even for people from overseas.
